MA in Creative and Media Enterprises and folkdevil.com
"The MA in Creative and Media Enterprises
at the University of Warwick is pleased
to announce an ongoing partnership with folkdevil.com. The search for
new ways of organising, planning and creating value in the new cultural economy
requires a sharing of ideas among entrepreneurs and academics alike. Folkdevil.com
offers a rare platform for discussion and communication, both for those working
in the creative and media industries, and for the wider research community.
Like Folkdevil.com, the MA in Creative and Media Enterprises provides
a space to rethink and reflect upon the rapidly changing creative business
environment. We hope that the link between us will allow a flow of ideas in
both directions. Over the coming months our intention is that students, staff,
alumni and associates of the MA programme will be able to contribute to the
folkdevi site, posting ideas and information and participating in the
folkdevil community."

MA in Creative and Media Enterprises, University of Warwick
The MA in Creative and Media Enterprises at the University of Warwick is a new business management programme for the cultural sector. Anybody who has worked in the creative and media industries, especially in a small business, knows that their people, processes and products do not behave according to the traditional business models. Intangible assets, unpredictable creative processes, the shift from hierarchies to networks, subjective customer perceptions of value all require a new approach to management.
The MA in Creative and Media Enterprises has been designed to provide a broad overview of the strategic, legal and organisational issues confronting the small creative firm. If you want to survive in the new knowledge economy, this course will help you to develop your own ideas about strategic planning, creative processes, organisational structure, intellectual property law and marketing. Above all, the ideas and strategies which you acquire will be transferable, designed to apply across a variety of creative business environments and industries, from start-up to business expansion and redevelopment, allowing you to continue to develop, rethink and reflect upon your own creative future.
The programme is designed for those seeking to set up or manage small enterprises in the commercial creative sector, including film and television production, the music industry, broadcasting, interactive computer software, publishing, visual arts, craft, design and the performing arts. Taught courses cover: Creativity and Organisation; Marketing and Markets; Regulation, Governance and Innovation; The Artistic Imagination; Research Strategies. In addition students pursue their own interests through a major project (research or practice based).
